Pentagon’s marines are not happy to come uniform changes

  • Marines in the Pentagon will soon move from camouflage to official “Service” uniforms.
  • Change is seen as costly and inappropriate, with no clear explanation by the executives.
  • Other military branches on the Pentagon will continue to wear their comfortable camouflage uniforms.

Among all other shocks in the Department of Defense, the Marines in the Pentagon are set to throw their camouflage services uniforms, commonly called “camms”, for the most official “service” dress uniforms.

Leaders have not explained the next change, which will take effect within a week, according to a copy of the directive taken by the Business Insider, but the Marines are not exactly excited.

Two marines, who spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid revenge, said BI change is felt out of sync with the advantages of the department, offers less comfort and is much more a hassle.

Marine Pentagon spokesman, Colonel Joshua Benson, confirmed the exchange, saying BJ in a statement that “new instructions were adopted and the Marines will adhere to the lawful order.” He refused to elaborate on why the change had been made.

Compared to other branches of the US service, marine troops are extremely strict in its layout standards. Bodies do not allow her marines to wear fleece jackets to stay warm, for example, and there are rigorous determinations which few options for outer clothes can be worn and when.

Male marines should get haircuts each week, which in the DC area can cost over $ 500 a year. Female marines, meanwhile, are not allowed to wear their hair on a braid or braid. Other services released older regulations for short hair and tight hair batches after some alopecia relations between female bodies.

Officials from the military, the Air Force and Marina told BI that there were no uniform changes for their services located in the Pentagon by those branches. These bodies most often wear their camms, which are very comfortable (and good to cover coffee stains).

The Pentagon Maritime Corps leadership decided to change from the wearing of “service” uniforms decorated in cammies two years ago, before deciding recently on the opposite course.

The previous policy change listed several reasons for the exchange-mainly, which the leaders then recognized the financial cost bodies made by the dry cleaning of “Service” uniforms-with an estimate, nearly $ 470 a year, which Junior recorded the troops at the low wage rate, are likely to feel more acute. With inflation, these costs today are likely higher.

“The overall goal of updated uniform guidance is to reduce the financial burden for our new officer and registered dry cleaning marines and uniform costs,” the previous instruction, according to Marine Corps Times.

Since then, the Pentagon Marines have usually worn “service” uniforms only once a week, which some marines say can help identify those who can exceed weight standards.

However wild they seem, military uniforms have not advanced much in the 21st century, including marine “service” uniforms, which may be considered military equivalent of casual business. The uniforms must be cleaned of drying and can be unforgivable solid. The look requires to stay a shirt for men and lack comfortable technical fabrics usually seen in the civilian business.

Some marines, including recruiters and those who are part of the prestigious Washington maritime barracks, are expected to wear more official uniforms daily.

The new return seems contradictory, a marine officer set in the Pentagon BI, and is unlikely to approximate the strict focus of the new political leadership in fiscal military responsibility.

“While services are required to cut to save money, new marines are now required to create much more irreversible money every week,” she said.

New military officers, especially women, already pay more pockets for uniforms compared to other ranks, according to a 2021 government supervision report that analyzed the uniform cost inequalities between services.

The same report said that while registered marines receive an annual stipend for uniform cost, the stipend is insufficient.

“Focusing on the war of war and mortality as it removes the uniform that symbolizes what seems strange,” she said, referring to Cammies, which most marines wear both at home and as they settle.

The change also seems a little contrary to the vibrations and style of the new Secretary of Defense, who was seen dressed in Pentagon suits, but was also recently photographed wearing more casual “tactical” clothing while visiting Guantanamo bay.

“I am trying to save money and invest with cleverness,” a registered marine told. “Added expense of dry cleaning on top of weekly haircut makes my financial goals more difficult to hit.”
