University Park, Pa.-Jason Plubell (Junior-Finance) is a student with high achievements to say at least.
He was president of the Penn State Dubois student government, a member of the Penn State Dubois business company, worked as a part -time loan servant, worked for the marketing department Penn State Dubois and more.
Students from Commonwealth campuses across the state decide to work. Some charge their schedule with 20 or more credit. They require practice and work. And, some need to be prepared to change places between their education in college.
This is where Alexandra Stossel and the Smeal Business Career Care (BCC) have entered.
Stossel, the change of campus coordinator in BCC, and Ashley Rippey, BCC Executive Director, have continued the tradition of reaching out on Commonwealth campuses to determine how students with career services can help.
And, the result is a multitude of services and sources available to campus change students.

Plubell and Allison Meko (elderly – marketing) have two things in common. They made the first two years of college at Penn State Dubois before crossing the Penn State University park. And, they took the course BA 297.
Stossel learns the course with a loan to help students get their career resources.
In class, they conduct interviews mocking, review their resumes and explore college career resources.
Meko’s impression of the BA 297 curriculum was so positive that it offers tips for other 2+2 students.
“Get 297 because it will prepare you to move here with career -related resources that otherwise you can’t understand that you need it at the time,” she said.
Career workout
When it comes to getting personalized support, students can plan career training meetings at Lion Nittany’s career portal.
Students often do not understand that these meetings can be used for everything they want. They can spend their time by reviewing their resumption or creating their covered letter. But they can also talk about career opportunities, seek more resources or simply seek advice.
“I have used [Alexandra] Almost every semester for resumption reviews. And, this last semester, we talked about the career goals and where I wanted to go with an internship, which was massive, “Plubell said.
Meko said it was useful to enter a career professional when comparing options.
“She has undoubtedly helped me to look at some of the good and the bad of those types of things,” Meko said.
Along with Stossel, Tina Rose, Sara Craig, Thompson Harner, inside Fabian, Ashley Rippey and Steven Ruhf offer general career help.
Clubs, clubs and clubs
Raj Das (elderly – Risk Management) followed Penn State Altoona for two years.
DAS has had numerous practices, starting from a Loaning by the Interns at the National Bank of the Embassy, for a Morgan Stanley asset management practitioner, for a private capital practitioner at Kennedy Street Capital Partners.
While he received assistance in revising the resumption and participated in Smeal’s career fairs, he found that inclusion was a great way to gain the skills needed for workforce and to integrate as a 2+2 student .
Hungry for the club’s opportunities, he immediately joined the Business Brotherhood Phi Beta Lambda.
He then co-founded the Penn State Property Management Association.
To give students’ experience with account management, the student organization created customers mock and help them with their finance needs. They then placed the numbers in a Monte Carlo simulation to see the possibility of success. Their success has won them from Morgan Stanley’s corporate partners and equal councilors.
In the coming year, they hope to expand their club to the Commonwealth campuses. With the help of Smeal, they want to share wealth.
Reduce the work
Alicia Bryan (Senior – Marketing) will work for Webfx after graduating in the spring. It tells directly in the services of the business career center to help create that opportunity.
“I would definitely say that Smeal had a role on my journey with Webfx because my New Year, I applied for a practice with them, and I was refused for the first time,” she said.
“I was like, ‘ok, so I have to do some work to fix what is wrong.” Maybe you get involved in some clubs and improve my resume just a little more. And, the second time around, I spent five rounds of interviews with them, and got that job! “
Meko also revealed that Smeal had a major role in reducing her full -time position on the webfx.
“It was definitely led by Smeal,” she said.
She shared that she took the opportunity to learn and talk to the company through class visits and Smeal’s events in the atrium, and this “is how I really got tied up with them and one of their recruiters. They definitely helped me to reach that point. “
And, this next summer, Plubell has a practice with the Bank of Regions in Charlotte.
Passing
The Penn State Dubois Campus has less than 400 students, so switching to the University Park campus with its 49,000 students can be shocking.
“It was definitely an exciting time, but it was a great time because Dubois is one of the smallest Commonwealth campuses,” Bryan said. “Only the number in class sizes was just a scared type. But it was an indispensable change. I feel like I would not have developed professionally as I could have here. “
Das recommended to have a “game plan”.
“Smeal gives you all the resources you need to succeed and do well phenomenal. But it’s a matter of understanding how to use it,” he said.
One of those sources is a file on the website for campus change sources with a list to do when students open on campus for the first time.
“I was more overwhelmed and scared than I should have been, “Meko said,” but BCC resources helped to quench those feelings. “
But it shared the necessity of finding these resources.
“Although, while students, our dishes are full of so many things, and can feel like a burden to go the extra step to understand these things, obviously worth it because they are there to help and they definitely anymore have helped, ”she said. “Simply take advantage of the resources you have.”
